Small Wonder

So this little girl, my friends, is my pint-sized 12 year old cousin. It’s amazing how she manages to look great in all my clothes, while I look rather boring and ordinary. She’s absolutely not into fashion as well and would rather wear her sweatpants all day and generally act like a tomboy. But she seemed to enjoy my harassment of her, so there is hope.
Perhaps I can convince her to start wearing sweatpants a la A Wang?

It's Officially Spring!

I can safely say that the weather has improved substantially. Though it's no where close to the sweltering 45 degrees back home (the heat that I'll be basking in in less than a month), it's warm here in Toronto. Relatively speaking.
I've never been quite the winter person and I find myself layering awkward pieces of clothing and looking generally awkward and bulky. Spring gets me excited for the following reasons:
1) Sandals - need I say more?
2) Loose tucked/untucked shirts and t-shirts.
3) Florals
4) A-line skirts
5) Cut-out shoes (it's safe to say that my feet will no longer turn blue from the cold)
6) Pastels
7) White - it's in a whole league of it's own
8) Light layering - blazer galore.
9) Pops of colour - the best way to bring to life neutrals a la Luella
10) Marc Jacobs SS09 Ad campaigns.

The Sart

A new addition to the large collection of my Sartorialist favourites. There's absolutely not one thing wrong with her outfit. The brilliant precision of her coat, the to-die-for beige platforms, the shiny leggings (YES!) and her fantastically tousled hair makes me wish I could wake up and be this lovely lady, everyday.

The American Apparel Wishlist 2.0

As the temperature rises (alright more like crawling terribly slowly), there's nothing more I'd like to wear day and night than the Tri-Blend Light Weight Raglan Pullover in Tri-Indigo (take note of the capital letters, it's just that great. This little number feels quite frankly like second-skin and I could see myself wearing this all wear round. Alas, the piggy-bank did not permit its purchase, but with the birthday coming up, I'm hoping for an in-flow of cash.
Also, the brilliant shiny leggings in Black Night Fever and Black Eel (again).

Charlotte Ronson

With a lacking in the Self-Inspiration department (wow it took me two tries to spell inspiration correctly), I turned to Ms. Ronson to help me out of my drab black and white phase. Neutrals, pretty silks and of course florals always have me floored. Nautical stripes and sheer blouses have also caught my eye. What I also love about this collection are the sleek silhouettes, the gorgeous ankle strap platform, a dark solid background for light prints and undeniably, the wearability of this colletion.
I also love the ethereal hippy-vibe of the last model. Can I be you?

Home Bound

As I prepare to head home in two months time (oh the excitement!!!), I'm looking for a pair of platforms/wedges which I can wear day and night (since back home it's almost impossible to wear anything besides sandals). Though it would be great if someone would hand me $600 to buy these Christrian Louboutin wedges, I'll take the cheap route for now and perhaps purchase these cheap-os at Forever21. I do feel that painting the heel white would make it look better. We've got to make the most of what we have. Damn.

Marni SS09

Marni's SS09 collection stole my heart. By piling up on the polka-dots, stripes, florals and geometric prints, Consuelo Castiglioni proves to us that it's okay to be eclectic. Actually, it's more than okay to be eclectic; it's gorgeous to be eclectic. The collection combines all of spring's current trends - sorbet colours, florals, african prints, platforms and statement jewellery - and leaves me wanting for more. The sorbet colours and florals cater to girls; big statement jewellery and chunky platforms cater to women. Pencil skirts are no longer black only - Castiglioni invites stripes and floral prints to make the pencil skirt less of a stricly-office wear and more of a daily wear. This collection has truly captured the little girl in all our hearts, sometimes with Lolita-esque knee high socks and sometimes with strawberry ice-cream pink.
And what's most important, is that rather than focusing on the negative economic situation through the use of dramatic structure and dark colours, Marni's SS09 collection lets us know that we've got to put the past behind us and boldy look towards what the future has to offer to us. In our big bad striped skirts and platforms.

A Passing Feeling

Catherine Holstein's brilliance makes me giddy. It gives me immense pleasure to know that nude and white and blue nautical stripes look in sync with honey golden (cool speak for bright yellow). After purchasing THE American Apparel Skirt, my mind went on a lockdown. I couldn't think of ways to recreate my skirt and usually opted for a black top (bubblebee-esque) when headed out. But now I know that my options are ultimately limitless. Because, Catherine Holstein's mash-up of colours showed me that you'll never know what actually looks good unless you try it, and sometimes, you've just got to take a damn risk.

Nude is a great colour because, nude = earth-tone = can be worn with virtually anything.

Orange

Spring reminds me of all the things I cannot have right now. It reminds me of exactly how desperate I feel to just wander around in sandals, but in this Canadian snow? No thanks. It reminds me of the fact that Topshop will be opening in New York the day after my birthday. And don't forget colour. I've been anticipating to peel away the layers of black and grey coats and cardigans and just do with some colour. But with the Canadian snow? No thanks
It should be mentioned that it has begun to snow after a month long hiatus. Hence the bitterness(?). But mostly, Spring reminds me of the things I miss, and will be missing.

So here we are

Sometimes I wish that I were a stuffed elefunt (pronounced: ele-phunt). I think like would've been much more simpler.
